What the program publishes
- Utility customer
- Princeton Municipal Light Department residential metered customer; one charger or charger incentive per household under the agreement.
- Named charger brands
- ChargePoint or Emporia Smart Level 2 chargers. Brand alone does not establish exact-model approval.
- Fully electric vehicle
- Up to $700 for the charger, as published by the program manager. Not an installation allowance or guaranteed payment.
- Plug-in hybrid
- The program web table lists $200 below 15 kWh and $300 above 15 kWh. It does not assign a tier for exactly 15 kWh. Do not guess the amount at that boundary.
- Installation
- Installation is at the customer's expense. The utility does not provide an electrical-service assessment through this guide.
- Participation term
- At least 3 years under the linked agreement.
- Routine charging restriction
- No charging from 5pm to 9pm on non-holiday weekdays under the scheduled charging agreement.
- Other obligations
- Maintain Wi-Fi connectivity and allow emergency curtailment. Read the full agreement for all duties and liability terms.
- Leaving or losing eligibility
- The utility reserves the right to remove a customer and recover the pro-rated charger cost on later electric bills if participation conditions are not met. Moving outside the service area, giving up the EV or losing Wi-Fi are examples listed in the agreement.
Battery-size boundary
Exactly 15 kWh: the published table leaves this unresolved. Ask the program manager before relying on either amount.
Before committing
- Confirm that the utility on your bill is Princeton Municipal Light Department. Town name alone is not a service-area check.
- Ask the program manager to confirm today's application, funding and purchase/install timing rules. Do this before buying.
- Confirm your exact charger model, vehicle type and PHEV battery size, including how the program treats exactly 15 kWh.
- Read the current agreement and understand the three-year commitment, charging limits and any repayment consequence.
