Municipal Charger Guide
Decision checklist

Before you buy the charger.

A rebate cap is not a quote, an approval or a promise that funds remain. Use the utility's current application and agreement as the source of truth.

  1. Read the electric bill. Identify the actual utility. A town name or ZIP code is not a verified service-area match.
  2. Confirm the application window. Ask if the program accepts applications now, whether money remains and which purchase and installation dates count.
  3. Confirm the exact equipment. Get the model, not just the brand. Verify whether your vehicle is fully electric or a PHEV and which battery-capacity tier applies.
  4. Separate the costs. The charger rebate may not pay for electrician labor, a panel upgrade or permits. Do not treat a published maximum as your total savings.
  5. Read the full commitment. Check the participation period, Wi-Fi requirements, curtailment hours, emergency events and cost recovery if you move or leave.
  6. Check stacking. A charger purchase rebate and an ongoing managed-charging credit may not both be payable at the same time. Ipswich publishes this restriction.
